January 5, 2013: Audubon Christmas Bird Count

Stay near great Georgia Coast birding — Little Tybee Island, Fort Pulaski National Monument, and the Colonial Coast Birding Trail at Lighthouse Inn on Tybee Island’s North Beach.

If you needed more reasons to be here on January 5, 2012, the 113th Audubon Christmas Bird Count is that day, as is National Bird Day — “Think outside the cage”.  Volunteer early to actively participate in the  2012/2013 Audubon Christmas Bird Count in Savannah and Tybee Island.  The former $5 fee has been waived.

If you are interested in participating in any of the counts, contact the compiler as soon as possible. Contact is Dot Bambach 912-598-3764 dotbam@bellsouth.net.  You must sign up in advance to participate so that areas can be planned and assigned. This is a great way to spend a day with the birds and fellow birders during the holiday season, while contributing to important bird data collection.

Last year’s 2011/2012 count in the Savannah / Tybee Island area is reported at this Audubon link.
