May 20: Tybee Island Beach Bum Parade Weekend

Beach Bum Parade weekend at Tybee Island, Georgia, surprises the unsuspecting visitor.  Islanders and tourists are armed with water-drenching paraphernalia on “floats” pulled behind cars and trucks.  Spectators line the parade route on Butler Avenue, ready also with water buckets, squirt guns and hoses for a fun-loving way to cool off.  Attendees and participants expect to get soaking wet!  This enlivened weekend on Tybee Island continues with laughter and eccentric fun.  When you’re ready to stay dry and enjoy the quiet,  guests head to the north beach (residential-style) safety of Lighthouse Inn’s beach cottage.
