The Friends of Cockspur Island Lighthouse Inc. (friends) and the National Park Service, Fort Pulaski National Monument invite local and regional artists to participate in a competition of Found Art titled “Let it Shine” to benefit the restoration of Cockspur Lighthouse. The awards and exhibit will occur September 14th -16th at Fort Pulaski National Monument. This exhibit is conducted in conjunction with Savannah Ocean Exchange. Ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded in youth and adult categories.
The Friends invite each artist to submit up to three pieces of artwork composed with salvaged, unearthed and re-purposed materials. We want original work including found objects with a theme of lighthouse and marine conservation emphasizing the inter-dependence of terrestrial and aquatic environments. Also see the website of sponsor savannahoceanexchange.org. Both 2 and 3 dimensional work is requested. Video/film and wearable art are specifically excluded. Work must be family oriented, durable, and of a non-political nature.
Please note that this is an exhibition and competition. Sales may not be conducted within the park.

The art must be able to be transported to the fort and assembled/installed within 4 hours by the artist.
The Friends of Cockspur Island Lighthouse is a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization dedicated to the preservation, restoration and perpetual care of Cockspur Island Lighthouse.
